The horsetail whisk is a unique soft concealed weapon of Wudang, evolved from Taoist ritual instruments, and itself carries profound Taoist cultural connotation. There is a Taoist saying that "one who holds a horsetail whisk is no ordinary person". Originally, the horsetail whisk was a ritual instrument used to remove dust and obstacles in Taoist ceremonies, symbolizing "brushing away worldly attachments and being transcendent". Ancient Taoists often carried it with them when traveling, which gave it both practical and spiritual significance. After being polished by generations of Wudang disciples, the horsetail whisk gradually developed into a martial arts weapon. Its techniques integrate the characteristics of knives, swords, whips and darts, with splitting, entangling, pulling, shaking and sweeping as core movements. It emphasizes the combination of hardness and softness, compact opening and closing. When practiced, practitioners walk in Bagua patterns and move their waist like a snake winding, making the movement as free and elegant as a heavenly horse traveling across the sky, which perfectly reflects Wudang's core idea of overcoming hardness with softness. Today, the derived Tai Chi Horsetail Whisk, which integrates health preservation functions, has become a popular exercise for the public.

The sword, often praised by the saying "Wudang sword, Shaolin staff", is the representative of Wudang weapons. It is also known as the "gentleman of all weapons", which fits the gentleman character advocated by Taoism. Different from the fierce deterrence of broadswords and spears, Wudang sword pursues the balance of hardness and softness. The sword body is cold and hard, but it becomes flexible and gentle when wielded, just like having a conversation with a virtuous gentleman. Wudang sword emphasizes the integration of "body, sword and spirit", with core techniques including pointing, collapsing, lifting and hanging. It advocates avoiding the opponent's strength and striking first after the opponent moves. When practiced, it is as gentle as breeze wrapping around the body, and it is famous for its agility that "only the sword light can be seen, not the person". In addition to traditional single sword, Wudang also has the unique double-handed Wudang Gentleman Sword. Featured by holding the sword with both hands and combining wide swings with delicate entangling movements, its 24 postures combine hardness and softness, and have both offensive and defensive practical value, making it a treasure in the inheritance of Wudang swordsmanship.

As two gems of Wudang's weapon system, the horsetail whisk and the sword together carry the spiritual core of Wudang martial arts. They are not only paths for self-cultivation and health preservation, but also precious carriers of traditional Chinese culture.
